Hello
Does anyone know of charitable organisations that provide volunteers to sit with bedridden patients?

My mum is my dads carer and can’t leave him - but needs to go out for doctors appointments or quick shop visits, or just a break sometimes.

Family aren’t close by - a volunteer she’s been sent by a local charity is lovely but not available all the time so I was hoping to get the names of some more she could call on.

If you know of any please let me know x

She needs a Carers assessment. Speak to you Local Authority Adult Helpdesk and request one. They're statutory for Carers and she may get a regular non means tested break from it.

What area are you in?

I mean what area is she in?

If she can't leave him at all it isn't a case of just someone to quietly sit with him though. Not sure this would be a volunteer thing. What happened if he fell whilst left with a volunteer or became distressed and confused?

I don't know if this is something volunteers would be happy to do, it's a big responsibility, you could try the local w.r.v.s. or age UK. As a pp said, it might be better and safer to have a full care needs assessment done for him and see if mum will apply for a carers assessment. Alternatively you could pay for a private carer to come and sit with him.
