luxury problem...which car?

ok - so this is a really nice problem to have....I need to renew my company car. Luckily the car policy at my work is quite generous....but i am stuck big time on what to choose.

This is a car for me to drive to work, do bits of shopping in, ferry the odd child aroud on my day off. We have a sensible estate car as our family car, so I kind of want this one to be a bit more fun.

At the moment i drive an alfa GT, and while i love it, i dont know if i want to be stuck with the same car for another 4-5 years, especially as i feel that the current model is probably only 2years awayfrom a facelift anyway.

So....do i get

An alfa brera (my sons (aged 4 and 7) favourite choice, "in red mummy")
A mercedes CLC (like it, seems a bit mmore grown up than the alfa, but is it a bit staid?)
The Audi 5 series coupe (dh doesn't like it)

DH likes the alfa mito, but its a bit small to be honest in the boot department.

Thought this would be the best place for advice. ANy other suggestions on something that might suit?

Thanks for reading!

Have you seen the TopGear reviews? They don't seem too keen on some of your alfa choices.

They don't seem to like the mercedes clc at all.

They rate the Audi A5 coupe.

Parker's Guide has reviews written by owners, as well as the journalists.

Audi A5 everytime for me.

oh well - back to the drawing board. Thanks for tha advice - no rush - have several months before i need to decide anyway.

i am very sceptical of the advice from topgear most of the time to be honest, because unless its an Aston martin, Clarkson never seems to like anything thats grounded in reality. Admittedly i'd like an Aston too....but not the price tag!

Blimey, what a dilemma, you must be losing sleep over this one

I used to have an Alfa 156 Selespeed and absolutley loved it. Only issue I found was the spare parts were horrifically expensive but as it'll be a Co. Car, no problem.

Personally, I'd pick the Alfa as by the sounds of things, this isn't your 'main' car so do you need it to be hugely practical ?

Drove an Aston Martin DB9 Vantage on an experience day at Silverstone a few months ago. If you ever get the chance, go on one of these, it is an amazing experience. Managed to get it upto 170 on the straight

i am jealous of your DB9 experience. Many years ago i got to go on a corporate day out at Palmer promosport and managed to spin drive a lotus elise, as well as a caterham and merc etc...but alas no Aston Martin.

As you say - am really losing sleep over this. I have taken the Mercedes off the list, and replaced it with the new BMW 3 series coupe - i will just have to go test drive them all. Funnily enough the children are desperate to come along as well.

i do like the alfa - i think you are either an alfa lover or not - i used to have a spider years ago and loved that as well, but that went when the kids came along. I wouldnt "own" one again though as i agree they are pricey to maintain.

i love cars.....

The new Alfa Giulietta is out soon and looks really good, it has had very postive reviews and gets an excellent safety rating too. My DH currently has an Alfa GT which we both love but we're looking at this as a possible next car. I love Mitos too but the Giulietta is bigger - we are definately Alfa fans in this house!
