Opinions needed from rugby players please, about kit

Hi, I've just taken over a shop selling school uniform & PE kit. The rugby jerseys we have in stock feel horrible, thin & shiny - they are 100% acrylic. A couple of mothers have commented that they're not as 'nice' as the old ones they used to buy.

So, I've got two samples from a different manufacturer, one is 100% acrylic still and the other is 100% cotton. They both feel thick and good quality, with the cotton one being slightly heavier.

BUT - it has occurred to me that maybe when you are getting hot & sweaty (ooh arr!) or wet/muddy on the pitch a lightweight shirt might be what you want.

So, what should I order, please? We will keep the cost the same if we change.

Incidentally, the shorts are NZ-style and 100% cotton.

Advice much appreciated.

Ditch the thin shiny ones - if the mothers are complaining they will start wanting to buy them elsewhere and/or getting non-reg ones.

re the two samples

Sweat - an acrylic shirt may make you sweat more to start off with but it will dry (and hence cool you down) quickly. A cotton one will stay sweaty.
Mud - An acrylic shirt will (again) dry quicker hence make you less cold if you have to play in wet muddy kit.

An acrylic one will also dry much faster after washing and if the collar is synthetic too the colours are less liek;ly to run

Overall I'd go for the better-quality acrylic.

(NB I do not play, just wash the bloody things )

Yes - our boys have arylic ones ffrom the rugby club, and heavy duty 'quality' cotton ones from school.

Although I am normall a 100% cotton person, I have to say, the acrylic ones are so much more practical.....

I don't tumble dry the cotton ones (they tend to shrink) so they are hanging up waiting to dry for DAYS, whereas the acrylic wash & dry overnight no problem.

I'm not sure the kids care.

(If it's for older, sweatier (ooooh!) boys and men though, then I guess "odour-retention" might be a problem with the synthitic fibres....

Thank you so much, this is brilliant. I, too, am normally a 100% cotton gal but I can see the practicalities here. I didn't mention that the colour is better too with
the acrylic, and they are black shirts with a white collar (ffs) so maybe the acrylic is less likely to end up with a grey collar?I'll go for those.

Also littlelapin is there no end to your talents? The roast pork was a great success! Thanks again.
