Have you bled your radiators lately?

Potterton publish their instruction manuals online, but I cannot see Prima F. Are you sure it's not a Suprima HE? You may find that the controls are quite similar anyway.

Otherwise, agree with the other posters, most likely:
broken thermostat,
feeder and expansion tank needs refilling (instruction manual should tell you how to do this), and/or
air in the radiators (usually get hot at the bottom, but remain cold at the top).

Good luck!

Cheers , it is operating now as long as we don't turn the boiler setting up. Suspect it is the thermostat as water hot even at a low setting.

Yep - sounds right. Well done!

How urgent an issue is it to sort out , bearing in mind we do have heating ? British Gas service due in about March/ April

Could it be the batteries in the thermostat (if it is separate from the boiler itself)?

BigGitDad · 21/01/2008 14:20

Don't mean to alarm but is this the thermostat in the water tank itself? Only that can be very dangerous as there isno cap on how hot the water will go.
I might be completely on the wrong track.

No would be thermostat on boiler I think, as that is what cuts out, not one on hot water tank (that is fine if set a bit high ).
