Issue with neighbours - should I report?

Hi all - bit off topic but looking for some advice / views.

So basically we have been having issues with our neighbours (live in a semi detached) regards to parties/gatherings for a few years now. They often have small gatherings on weekends and them and their guests just get so loud, clearly being fueled by alcohol (and we suspect other substances given how long they go on) and this always goes on into the early hours - this weekend they didn't finish until 5.30am after starting at around 2pm.

We have spoken to them on several occasions and now they stop the music in the evening but its just the shouting and loud behaviour that comes with gatherings. We have always pointed out to them we are not trying to stop them having friends over but just to tone it down into the late evening and especially early hours. When we do speak to them it stops for a period but then slowly the gatherings start again as if they think we have forgotten about all the past situations!

We are by no means party poopers and we have guests over and go to friends houses but things always tend to curb in before midnight - simply because we respect the fact we have neighbours as do our friends when we go to theirs.

We are now considering reporting this to our local council. Has anyone else been in this situation and does this actually work reporting it? Any other advice appreciated.

do they have a landlord? speak to him.
or speak to them one last time warning you are going to contact the council.
but when you have complaint like that there maybe problems when selling the house.

You can but you may need to declare a dispute if you sell. Do they own or rent. I would stop being considerate if you have friends over.

I'd keep a diary/record any loud incidents that last for a prolonged time.
. I know this is will prolong any process but without dates and evidence I don't think the council will do anything.

Unfortunately they own the house. I think I may just start DIY at 7am when they are suffering with hangovers

They're being a nuisance and it would be grounds to sue them for compensation as you cannot enjoy your home as is your right.
