Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
I cringed for her.

Desiderata · 19/12/2007 20:44

I wouldn't be too sorry for her, Rhubs. She earns a fortune ... I reckon she knows what she's doing

CliffRichardSucksEggsInHell · 19/12/2007 20:45

Desi are you from London? If so I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Desiderata · 19/12/2007 20:47

No, I'm not from London.

I'm English

CliffRichardSucksEggsInHell · 19/12/2007 20:58

Desiderata · 19/12/2007 21:06

France is a country!? I thought it was some sort of cheese-scented theme park.

With free rude people.

Desiderata · 19/12/2007 21:56

Ha ha ha ha ha

You ain't far wrong.

Quattrocento · 19/12/2007 21:59

Sandies · 19/12/2007 22:20

We have an American teacher in our school on a kind of job swap thingy (Jeez, I teach English!!!) Anyway she is not the sharpest tool.....she teaches English in the States yet has no idea of grammar and her interpretation of Shakespeare has been...ummm intersting to say the least....bless!

AnneMayesR · 19/12/2007 22:55

I don't think Jade Goody would do any better than these folks from America.

Desiderata · 20/12/2007 00:00

Sandies, Shakespeare has always been open to interpretation

madamez · 20/12/2007 00:50

I'm not sure about quiz questions of a way of measuring intelligence. A schoolkid has probably been taught geography more recently than a young adult ( so would have learned the particular fact necessary more recently), and some people are simply better than others at retaining bits of information that are not directly relevant to their everyday lives. Why is it, for instance, more intelligent to know (for instance) which Shakesperean character wanted to avenge his father's murder, than to know what how to worm a cat?

Desiderata · 20/12/2007 23:05

Top posting, madamez.

That's it, in a nut(meg).

I have a friend who is academically unintelligent.

But my God, I'd follow her into the jungle. Her practical skills are awesome to behold.

EricScrooge · 20/12/2007 23:10

Yes - it's about balance.

I think we all know someone who has a very high IQ but no common sense.

I (of course) am INCREDIBLY intelligent and EXTREMELY street-wise.

AND the most modest person i know too.
