Putting nerves to rest?

Hi all - Been reading the last few days and figured there's no time like the present to register, say hi and perhaps ask a question (or two)

Noticed changes the past fortnight with my significant other, eating things she wouldn't normally eat, and taking more naps than normal - she's also late so run a test, that showed positive, so ran more tests which also showed positive. Very very early days yet, around 3 weeks so I know anything could happen, but any ideas on how to keep the nerves in check?

I'm running through a mental checklist of what I need to do around the house (we moved in January, still a bit upside down) and trying to visualise where things will go.

Am I over thinking this? I know we've got 8 and a bit months to go but want to make sure things are as perfect as they can be for my SO so closer to the time she doesn't have to worry about anything.

I should point out I'm a worried, which probably isn't helping.

Cheers

Congratulations!

Defo make a list and plan what you are going to do. How is your partner, happy?shocked?

Congratulations! Do your research, make a plan, prioritise, then discover you've forgotten something seemingly important and realise it is all fine.

Cheers for the congratulations!

She is in shock, but a good shock.

Been told that twins run each side of my family and hers, could be interesting at the scan lol.

Shock twins

Yep, and it's already missed a generation if that stuff is right, so if it's going to happen then more than likely to us.

Check the pregnancy due date calculator on here. Likely to be further along than three weeks. Not impossible to get positive tests before period due but the date is calculated from date of last period. So on an average cycle of four weeks it's around them you would get a positive. Congratulations.

Checked the due date calculator thingy (sorry I'm at work and half asleep) and judging from that we are between 6 and 7 weeks along.

Looking at the first scan in roughly a month and a half.

Congratulations! I reckon u should start on the early on the house & get it out of the way so you can focus on each other and have a bit of a rest before baby arrives.

It can be a bit daunting at first! Thinking that pretty soon you'll be in charge of a little life and preparing for that life. But it all happens naturally and you roll with the punches and figure it out as you go. It's really really hard to mess it up, I promise. Oh and by the way the whole "the baby is coming right now and it's going to happen any second" doesn't really happen. You end up driving to the hospital, then waiting in triage, then waiting in the delivery room... its a lot of waiting!
