Freeview+ Recorder

I'm after some advice and thought I'd post here as well as Household Goods in the hope that because this is a bit teccy I may have more useful responses!

I am looking to buy a Freeview+ recorder so that I can record and pause programmes from my Samsung LCD Full HD TV. I've found a Humax one on Amazon with 160GB storage. Will this be enough for the odd film, and a few episodes of Deperate Housewives/The Tudors? The next size up is 320GB and wonder if that's too much for my needs. And do I need HDMI cables to connect it to my TV rather than just SCART ones? I don't want to spend hundreds either. The one I think is ok is £128. Thanks.

Humax PVR is excellent, we've had a 160gb one for a while, and it's never got past half full.

We've just got a new TV, so it's connected with HDMI now, but has been connected with a scart with the old crap telly and was just fine.

It's got 2 receivers in it (I think) so you can record 2 things at a time (essential IMO) and watch normally watch something else at well on the freeview on your TV.

Have you thought about an HD PVR?

p.s. have a look in geeky stuff - there are probably threads about the Humax in there.

If I have a normal tv (ie ten year old cathode ray thing), can I still record and pause programmes if I get one of these Freeview + boxes?

Jareth thank you. Humax looks the way to go. Can't afford the HD version at the mo and to me being able to pause/record is more important. The pic on my Samsung TV is fabulous with Freeview anyway.

Have a look at John Lewis for them - the prices are often very similar and guarantees better than Amazon. You might be surprised by the cost of the HD ones too!

givemesomespace Yes - as long as your TV has a scart socket at the back of it so you can connect freeview+

Once you've got it, you'll wonder how you lived your life so long without it

Don't watch much telly, but could be useful. If tv has a build in freeview will a recording box still work ?
