Weehoo trailer

I'm thinking of getting a Weehoo trailer, the one with pedals, for DD.

If anyone has one or knows about them, how can these be transported by car? Can it go on a bike rack or does it dismantle for transportation in the boot?

We have one of these, it's excellent but very bulky. Mine is older (was second hand) so I can't vouch for newer ones (I understand the link mechanism has improved) but it is fiddly to connect or remove it. I rarely take it off my bike for this reason. It wouldn't fit in a bike rack, and even once removed from the bike it needs a large boot.

DH and I used a WheeHoo fir long distance bike rides with toddler - cycle touring holiday. It was excellent as DS could help pedal but could still nap when needed. Munch lighter and ergonomic for DH after the chariot. We didn't have to deal with cars/rack as we don't have one but we did manage to get it on/off trains .

Thank you both. I think it sounds like transporting the Weehoo in my small ish car is unrealistic. Going to think of other options.

This would involve two gadgets... but if you want to mixup peddling with chilling so you get a longer ride in. This worked for us!

We had a kidsrideshotgun (up front seat - Google it). Then a Followme tandem (Google it). We used both at once from age 3, up until kiddo was 6.5. He was able to ride his own bike independently. Then when he was too tired, we'd deploy the Followme. Then once too tired to be towed. On to the shotgun. They are also fantastic gadgets as standalones. We've comfortably used both on blue runs at trail centres. Then also used both for longer road rides... up to 4 hours.

I did have my son in his burley solo until 6.5 too. Sometimes I just fancy a long ride and he's too tired from school. So would happily go in the trailer.

All of the above comfortably fit in a small car.

Both my partner and I are very serious cyclists. So it was always important to us that our son came along too. Hence the various gadgets. All of which I spent ages researching and to be quite honest were the only bits of baby/ child equipment I took any interest in 😂😂😂

@platypuspart

Thank you. You've answered me on both my threads!

I'm not sure I would manage DD's height (120cm) and weight (21kg) on the shotgun seat.

Very annoyingly I sold our Burley solo in the summer. As DD has been pedaling happily on her Woom bike for 2.5y the trailer just wasn't being used (we don't do long distance like you). Had I had a crystal ball I would have kept the Burley!

I would very much recommend the FollowMe tandem. Excellent bit of kit.
