Back to work - reluctant cyclist

So for my new job I will be cycling to work - on pathways/pavements and quiet-ish roads.

Where the hell do I start? Is buying second hand a bad idea?

I will need all weather gear too so once it starts getting wet and cold I can stay dry and change at work.

Help! I'm totally clueless - looking for tips and links to the best stuff out there from people who have done this before! TIA x

Electric bikes are perfect for commuting. I use my cheap electric folder fairly frequently to nip into town whereas my non electric expensive fancy one hasn’t left the shed for ages.

A friend bought hers through the cycle to work scheme.

I don't wear waterproof trousers; if it's belting it down in the morning I get the bus, light rain I wear opaques and a stretchy skirt, they dry quickly. Coming home I don't mind getting wet.
I've just started leaving my very heavy and secure lock on the rack at work. Game changer! So much lighter!
I have a steep hill to get to work and it is making me fitter, I'm sure. But I only really cycle a couple of times a week (other days bus or WFH).
