So any idea where I could go between Norwich and Colchester tomorrow?

On a Sunday? You'll be lucky.
Madgetts in Diss is famous but I doubt they're open.
Youtube videos no good?

if I wasn't in the middle of moving house/going away I might give a repair a go but tbh it's the back wheel with the motor on and I'd rather pay to get it fixed

There used to be a really lovely older guy at Evans in Norwich, they might do it today.

Madgetts will be ok for what you want.

I wouldn't recommend them for much else though, he trades on his father's reputation. They measured DH completely wrong for a MTM frame a couple of years back and made me some touring wheels where some of the spokes barely made it into the rim. I took my wheels to another shop as I was thinking of reusing the rims with a dynamo hub and they condemned them as unsafe, definitely unsafe or touring with a load.

So our experience was pretty crap, two bikes, two big problems, but yes, his father did used to make wheels for olympians!

But no doubt he can change a tyre.

It is in being fixed - so DH & I are in Cafe Rouge for a free lunch (tesco vouchers)

Phew!! off house hunting in Colchester after this :)

That is good. I have only ever been to one Evans and it is that one, they were always really helpful (was usually for cables and the odd part when we realised we hadn't got something on a Saturday as I was in Norwich anyway).

& they charged 12.49

Bargain!!

Lovely 🙂.

For your next set of tyres can I recommend Schwalbe Marathons. They are nearly impossible to get a puncture with.

katymac · 24/07/2017 17:00

Would they fit my bike? I have very fat tyres compared to DH's bike

Should do, they go up to 38mm width (or possibly even bigger!)

katymac · 25/07/2017 19:54

Why/when would I need new tyres?

Sorry - still learning this stuff

No worries - unless they get badly slashed, it is usually just a case of the rubber wearing out. Basically when the tread starts disappear and before you can see the nylon under the rubber.

Thanks
