Bike for a 4 year old

DD will be 4 this Summer and she's been flying on her balance bike for quite a while.

DH is a cycle nut so is ripping up trees trying to research, but I wondered if any of you had any recommendations. She's a wee thing so I want it to be light for when I carry it home from the feckin park

Islabikes seem eye-wateringly expensive as do Frogs... Any idea on resale? Very little online.

My 4yo loves his islabike. Yes it was expensive but I didn't like the look or weight of any of the bikes in shops.
We went for the CNOC16 he was just tall enough for it a month before he turned 4 so we should get plenty of use from it.
They're expensive but he enjoys and uses it every day so that's fine by us. Worth it.

I am sorry to admit to this as it is a bit sad but in order to prove to DH that Islabikes are good value for money in the long term I have kept a spreadsheet showing the overall net cost per year of us owning Islabikes for 2 DS's since our first one which we bought in 2009. Taking into account the current value (estimated according to eBay) of the ones still in use we have spent an average of £43 per year on bikes. I have always bought them new and sold them on relatively quickly once the boys were comfortable on the next size up.

They have been sold in good working condition and were well looked after mechanically but were always well used and had the cosmetic damage that any 3-4 year old bike would have.

I therefore don't see them as an expensive option in the long term.

This is all brilliant info. Measured DD tonight and she would be on a Cnoc16 or Frog 43. Going to check for Frog stockists near me.
Owletterocks - she is doing the Balanceability course. It seems to be the only option in our area. Had the first session this morning and it went well. (On the Strider balance bike). It's definitley going to take a few sessions though - she lacks confidence with it at the moment. We tried the course with a different instructor last year and it did not go well!
Mumski - my friend is a huge fan of Islabikes and says it's just the initial investment, after that they are on a great quality bike for a relatively small amount.

Another vote for The bike club here. You pay in interest free installments and when your child grows, you just exchange the bike. We got our DDs frog 55, 62 and 62s at Christmas. They've been fantastic. Now DD3 has grown, so we are exchanging her frog 55 for a frog 62. We get a 10% discount on DD2's & DD3's monthly fees, too, as a multi-bike discount.
