Calling all Francophile film buffs.

I teach French to adults in the evenings. last year I showed 'A la folie, pas du tout' which they loved, found lots to discuss etc.

I have some of the same students this year and would like to show another film. The main criteria are:

• something recent-ish
• no violence or too much swearing (some of them are sensitive souls )
• there must be something they can talk about, an issue, a theme etc
• nothing too heavy - my classes are meant to be fun.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Etre at avoir? It is fab but I bawled like a loon when I watched it at home. I need to retain some professional dignity.

(Am aware there are no accents - can't do them atm).

What about 'Cage aux folles'? Fun and plenty to talk about.

Coco Before Chanel, si tu peux le trouver en DVD. Rigolo et superbe histoire. Conversation sur Chanel ect... Tres sympa!

un coeur en hiver is a love story with emmmuaelle beart. You could use bienvenue chez des chitis too, but i've had trouble getting hold of it over here

Films I have enjoyed recently include:

La Tourneuse du Pages
Comme un Image (Look at Me in English!)
Apres Vous
La Fille sur le Pont
Moliere
My Best Friend (can't remember French title!)

They are all good stories, quite gentle and funny in most cases, and are about relationships etc!

Also recommend the bilingual film 'Man on Wire' about Philippe Petit who tightrope walked between the World Trade Centre towers.

Etre et Avoir is one of my all time favorites !

I enjoyed:

Two Days in Paris - very funny (some swearing)
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
La Vie En Rose
Moliere
Amelie
Delicatessen (very funny, but your students may not like it, Smugmum!)

Also The Girl from Paris, I am sure your students would love it. A young woman gives up her city job and retrains to be a farmer.

Has anyone seen the film about Coco Chanel with Audrey Tatou?
