If anyone here loves the Verdi Requiem and/or is a supporter of Macmillan Cancer support and lives near Manchester I hope you will be interested in this;

I have been asked to spread the word about a concert in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support at the Royal Northern College of Music, Oxford Road, Manchester on Sunday 8th March at 7.30 ...

...it has been organised and funded by the mezzo soloist who lost her father to cancer last year, but if we don?t get more tickets sold she may have been better giving the £1,500 set up costs (concert hall fee, programme and advert printing etc)direct to Macmillan.

The concert is a Verdi Requiem and the orchestra (Bolton Symphony), chorus (Bolton Catholic Musical & Choral Society)and all professional soloists (Margo Campbell, Fiona McDonald, Nicholas Hardy and Craig Smith)are donating their services for free. Every penny raised in ticket/programme sales will go to Macmillan Cancer Support ...

Tickets are £12 from the RNCM 0161 9075555 or BCMCS 01204 856977

?even if it isn?t your cup of tea would you please spread the word to anyone who you know just might be interested?

Further information;
Concessions for children and students; £5.00 and £8.00 for anyone mentioning the "sound advice" (RNCM Magazine)offer.

shame you can't come califrau

for anyone considering it I personally know 3 of the soloists and can't reccommend them more highly...the soprano trained at the RNCM and National Opera Studio and is a Verdi/Puccini specialist. The mezzo is also RAM and RNCM trained, another internationally experienced Verdi specialist with a magnificent dramatic voice and presence. And the bass-baritone is yet another RNCM trained internationally reknowned Verdi specialist with phenominal range and power ...
All three have worked together regularly over the years and have a wonderful rapport and vocal blend and balance.
I havent personally heard the tenor but his CV reads most impressively.
The orchestra and chorus I have only heard a couple of times but I was truly impressed with their standard.

Many thanks to anyone who came or spread the word. The concert was 90% sold out and donations are still coming in...all in all it looks to have raised in excess of £3000 for Macmillan Cancer Support
