Only caught the last five minutes of the new piece but it looked very good. I missed the Bernstein too , so will def be checking iPlayer tomorrow.

I did! Every time I watch an orchestra I always want to be a percussionist; it looks so cool.

I always wanted to play the harp - for some strange reason lol

Oh yes, something very glamorous and ethereal about the harp. See, that guy playing the xylophone is having so much fun there.

Oh, I cringed for the trumpeter - that is such a big note too. Lol I keep looking out for the bassoonist now.

I'm strangely fascinated by the conducting ruffles on the conductor's shirt - ruffling along to the music.

I do love this piece. I think things you learn as a child/teen in great detail with great conductors stick with you

I often wonder how things might have been different if I'd done A-Level Music. I was discouraged from doing it because it wasn't 'useful' .

Doesn't stop me listening and enjoying it though. I think it's great that there's much better TV Proms coverage than there used to be as well.

Friends did it, and I sort of vicariously followed the syllabus with them. And I was in the choir, so I got my music kicks that way .

Heck of a lot of Messaien this year, isn't there? Is he your bag? I find it interesting to listen to, but must admit I wouldn't think of bunging some on for relaxation.

oh no not messaien - not my thing. I rememebr playing the Turengalia symphony (sp) when he came to the UK - I rememebr thinking what a load of noise

Tons of lovely baroque music for you then . I had a massive crush on one of the viola players in the local orchestra when I was younger, so the viola will always retain a nostalgic charm for me...
