PuppyMonkey · 13/05/2008 16:03

neil diamond is most definately still alive. he was the guest/ theme of american idol (itv2) a couple of weeks ago and sang pretty amazing grace live - puppy, you'd have loved it!!!

KatyMac · 13/05/2008 20:11

DD (10) nearly bought tickets to see him at Wembley

She asked for my CC.....I asked why & she told me

They were £300 each - blasted child....even if she does have good taste

PuppyMonkey · 13/05/2008 20:15

It kind of reminds me of the stuff Johnny Cash was doing just before he died. Quite cool songs etc.

I also love it and can't stop singing it.

Puppy, you have made a good point. Johnny Cash, America 5, just before he died, just after June died. Lovely tunes.

Suspect I also listen to too much Radio 2.

podglet · 13/05/2008 20:19

Just read this out to DP who has noted that Johnny Cash and Neil Diamond share (d) a producer. The chap who did Johnny's last stuff is currently producing Neil Diamond. Might explain it

cocolepew · 13/05/2008 20:20

I'm a proper fuddy duddy, I have tickets to see him in June at the O2. If he doesn't sing Cracklin' Rosie I'm asking for a refund

PuppyMonkey · 13/05/2008 20:29

Rick Rubin produced his last album as well. My Mum was reading a interview with him and he was sad that he has been seen as uncool, That got me thinking that Johnny Cash wasn't always cool, until he did the last few albums and then people were able to come out of the closet! I grew up listening to him, his earlier stuff is great. I'm not a Tog, I'm still a Tyg!

PuppyMonkey · 13/05/2008 20:39

Hey cocole, they should make an Oscar winning film about Neil diamond and that will probably help him get cool again.

Anyway, if you're the person who wrote I'm a Believer, you'll always be cool in my book.

Oh, Joaquin Phoenix singing ND

sdjones2 · 13/05/2008 20:45

Diamond's last CD - 12 Songs was spectacular, and this one Home Before Dark is (perhaps) just as good. Not listened to it enough yet. Both produced by Rubin (as were Cash's last few).

Mind you if he DOES play Cracklin Rose in Cardiff on June 19, I will want compensation CoCo.

Captain of your Shipwreck - goose pimple stuff. GO ON - LISTEN TO IT!

southeastastra · 15/05/2008 16:49

he has a no1 album now in the US (first time in his career) and he's playing at glastonbury.

lololo

mylovelymonster · 16/05/2008 21:54

he's wonderful

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 16/05/2008 21:57

Surprised Wig Wam Bam is not here.

I was reared on a staple diet of opera, Neil Diamond, Frank Sinatra, and Peter Skellern. My DH considers me to be musically damaged.
