Theatre for Big Birthday

I have a significant birthday coming up in September and have booked London hotel and pre theatre restaurant but can't decide on what to see! I was going to go for the glamour and glitz of Moulin Rouge but reading some reviews thinking it might just be all puff. Cabaret also looking fun- struggling to find reviews of the current casting though. Would be open to opera (saw ballet at Covent garden last big birthday :) or something smaller and more serious but not looking for a academic night out!
I know terribly subjective but does anyone have thoughts?!

What a nice thing to be choosing! My guess/hope re Cabaret is that nobody duff would be cast in the lead roles. I went to see it last year and didn't know what it was going to be like (not seen the film) and it was a lot more think-y/serious than I'd realised, but very entertaining and the whole cast was excellent. I look forward to seeing what others recommend.

If you are open to opera then both La Traviata and The Marriage of Figaro are on at the Royal Opera House.

Both very popular but there aren't really any bad seats at the ROH depending on your ticket budget.

I'm booked to see Jason Donovan in Rocky Horror Picture Show in September.
It's not to everyone's taste....but in my humble opinion - BEST MUSICAL EVER 💖

Guys and Dolls is fabulous and cheery.

Witness For The Prosecution in County Hall is brilliant, and such unique setting.

Moulin Rouge is great and the way they've decked out the theatre is amazing.

Operation Mincemeat is funny and engaging. A small theatre so more cosy. It deserves the awards it's been getting.

Cabaret is fantastic, but also challenging (think of the subject matter.....).
If you want complete fun and an amazing production, go to Guys and Dolls at the Bridge Theatre..... I've seen it twice and it's fantastic. Just change your pre-show restaurant to somewhere a bit closer to Tower Bridge.

Have you seen Hamilton? That has the wow factor for me.
