I'm playing it again right now, thanks

you should start the guitar again, my dd2 has had some lessons and she loves it.

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/03/2008 15:25

I 'd love to play stuff like that, I did classical guitar for several yrs in my teens but couldn't for the life of me play now...

why do you have some lessons again
it such a lovely instrument to be able to play

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/03/2008 15:28

yes,I should..life is too short not to ! thanks for encouragement - how old is yr dd ? ds would like to learn but he is very uncoordinated and I think he'd find it tricky

OP posts:
Wotz · 08/03/2008 15:32

8yrs

simple bits "i'd like to teach the world to sing"
"we all live in a yellow submarine" etc

She stopped going for a while as I wanted her to concentrate on her grade 1 piano which she passed in Nov and will start her again soon if she wants to go.

Wotz · 08/03/2008 15:33

it helps with their co-ordination and memory. dd2 has a memory like a goldfish.

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/03/2008 15:35

mmm, he has trouble with fine motor skills, but then the finger positions etc might be very good exercise...plus, the guitar always sounds good, unlike violin/recorder when first played !

OOH yes. Scratchy violins YUK!

Both my dds learn the guitar.
They follow the rock school syllabus and really enjoy it.
DD1 has only been playing 18 months and has just passed her grade 2.
I played the guitar badly as a teen and I have been inspired to take it up again since the girls started. Really like the TAB system of reading music- makes so much sense. Wish I had known about it when I was younger. Like the guitar lesson on You tube-just going to try it out now.

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/03/2008 16:07

my problem is that I'm left handed and was taught classical left handed,so my guitar was restrung....
