Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins - country -ish - she sings with Rilo Kiley

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/12/2007 17:38

I have a secret fondness for old Vanessa too

indiemummy · 30/12/2007 17:40

oooh I love Vanessa. I have emailed her in the past and had my emails read out!! so exciting! Bit too scared to phone in though.

I found another secret Vanessa listener the other day, a friend who runs his own business. A real guilty pleasure, much guiltier than Sean Rowley's guilty pleasures!

southeastastra · 30/12/2007 17:41

lol indiemummy, i've emailed vanessa too and the kath and eddie show, but been too scared to call in.

did talk to robert elms years ago on a phone in. he was very nice.

donnie · 30/12/2007 17:41

another big Strummer fan here - I saw them loads of times in my teens and hang out with friends round Portobello, where he lived although this is going back a LONG time!so I used to see him about qiute a bit. I always idolised him and still do in a way - my dd1 quite likes the Clash now I am proud to say.

what are people's fave Clash songs? mine are :
white man
straight to hell
complete control
janie jones
spanish bombs

( and all the others of course!)

what about others?

Jenny Lewis - this is the track Robert Elms played which made me seek her out.
I email Vanessa all the time and she reads them out - so exciting - have been read out by Kath and Eddie too !!

indiemummy · 30/12/2007 17:46

I will check out Jenny Lewis. I used to love Neko Case, she had a record out a few years back, Neko Case & her Boyfriends. That was countryish.

Oh so many Clash songs, White Man, Guns of Brixton, London Calling, etc. i liked the recent Babyshambles version of Janie Jones. And Nouvelle Vague's version of Guns of Brixton - check it out if you've not heard it.

Off out now but I'll catch up with you guys another time - or you'll hear me ringing in on Robert Elms or Vanessa!! x

southeastastra · 30/12/2007 17:46
