Cinderella Vs Wicked for 8 year old

My aunty is offering to take me and dd to see one of the following shows. I've wanted to see Wicked for ages but I know Cinderella is newer and I'm not sure which one is more suitable and fun for my 8 year old DD. We saw lion king two years ago and she loved it. We usually see one or two kids shows a year and the occasional pantomime so she is kind of used to the concept although appreciate the musicals are longer. Any help appreciated!

I just took my 8 year old dd to wicked and she loved it. So did I! Haven't seen cinderella so can't compare. Wicked is a little slow in the first half but excellent first half finale and second half feels like minutes.

Thank you, we've booked to see Wicked, can't wait!

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

I’ve seen Wicked three times.

Would go again tomorrow.

Disliked wicked, v loud and screechy music! Relative to other musicals. DC was similar age and didn’t understand what was going on, liked the costumes but not the volume or the flying monkeys!

Wicked isn’t particularly a kids show? I’ve seen it. A lot of it would be over DCs head at primary age.

I know this is an old thread but Cinderella is fab - but not a kids show. Bit risqué (silly, but it’s still there) so depends on child, but I’d prob avoid for under 11-12 year olds.

Went to see Cinderella a couple of weeks ago - it’s not for kids in my opinion. It’s a tongue in cheek adult take on the story. I cringed for some of the young kids in the audience. My 13 year old loved it but he was the right age to appreciate the more adult parts.

Wicked, I’d say Cinderella is possibly a bit old for an 8 year old.

We saw Wicked DD loved it! It was definitely a treat for me too. Yes some probably went over her head and I'm looking forward to taking her again as an older teen/adult. It was worth watching the Wizard of Oz first on dvd. I definitely wouldn't have recommended it for younger than 8 and only if child is used to going to shows as it's a long show for a child. Good to hear we made the right call re Cinderella will save that for when she's older.

I took my 8 year old to Matilda over the Easter holidays and she loved it (as an aside or for a different time, I understand it wasn’t one of your options!)

They have just announced Cinderella is closing 12th June.
