Our Little Angels

Hi everyone
This morning I entered a singing competition on the web, singing to There Must Be An Angel. (I entered late as it finishes today - I was never late before children!)
If you would like to take a look, please go to www.votigo.com/contests/showentry/11883 and unashamedly vote for me! Heeheehee.
I dedicated it to my two earthbound angles who were running in and out of the camera tripod at the time of recording. It made me smile!
Just wondering what things others have done in the name of their children?

Just thinking, as an aside to the above, what songs are there that can be interpreted in a way that they could be about your children as opposed to a "love" song in the traditional sense - as in There Must Be An Angel?
When I was singing that one, I thought of my children, rather than my DH - or is that just me?

StrangelyBzar, thank you for the link. It's very interesting to hear so many ways one song can be sang. You're very brave to sing in the competition and I liked your smile. I've listened to many contestants and I wish you good luck in the competition and with your singing career in general.
As for your question, how about lullabies and some other children' songs? there are so many songs you could be about your children.

Ah, Fedda, you're very kind - the singing was really just a bit of fun - I was distracted by my DC, which is easily done!
There are songs written specifically about children, like Save All Your Kisses For Me (showing my age now) and Isn't She Lovely (once again showing my age!) Ah! The Land of Make-Believe - Bucks Fizz!
I have started to ramble incoherently now, so I best be off. Thanks for your comments.

StrangelyBzar, you are very welcome. I know how kids can distract and I often stay up late because it's the only time I can do stuff for me. The next morning I'm always tired. Don't give up your singing, it's lovely.

StrangelyBzar · 09/07/2007 16:10

Up late too, huh?

Every night! And every evening I promise myself to go to bed ealier! Fat chance! That's MY TIME though. Kids are in bed, DH is in bed.Nice cup of coffee and here goes. I'm at my computer and I can look at my favourite sites and if my inspiration allows, I can make some more songs. When would you know about the results? Did you take parts in any other contests? I've tried some songwriting contests but so far didn't get very far. Still, may be in future, who knows.

Hi Fedda

I don't think I'll get anywhere with it - have just returned to singing after about 1o years. I shall be looking into singing lessons as I would like to do it to the best of my ability. I did have lessons when I was in my early 20's, but I think I can do so much more now. I have had a lot more life experience and understand lyrics much better now. I also write songs, but cannot do the music, just the words, but again, haven't written for some time - I need time and space for that-something we have very little of currently! I have entered a couple of local singing comps, and made it to the final and sem-final, which I was pleased with, having not sung for a decade, so hopefully, it can only get better. Do you sing?

Yes, I do when nobody can hear me or when I show my students that if I can sing, everyone can! You get the picture. My voice is simply awful but when I write a song I do need to hear how it sounds so I sing it. I write songs and with my music I also got to semi-finals but I'd like a better result sometime because I compose since I was 12. Please, don't ask how old I am, okay?

StrangelyBzar · 10/07/2007 22:16

Oh go on! Apparently life began for me this year!

I'll try.

StrangelyBzar · 10/07/2007 22:47

Which instruments can you play?

OP posts:
fedda · 10/07/2007 22:58

I'm afraid I only play the puiano and keyboard. I wish I could play guitar. But then again, you are expected to sing when you play guitar so it's just as well.

StrangelyBzar · 10/07/2007 22:59

My DD is learning the piano, and it makes me wish I had stuck to it when I was younger. I think it's lovely having a gift/skill like that.

Did you say that life began for you this year? Well, it's never too late to learn the piano and it's a very good way to encourage your DD as well. How about you ask her to show your where the notes are and play the role of her pupil. Children love feeling important. Another way is going to your local library and borrowing some books for playing the piano. You could also stay in your DD piano lessons if they are private, not school once. Just give it a go and it will be very helpful for your singing as well. Good Luck!
