She was filming it!
Do you think she secretly wanted to get on "You've Been Framed"?

Furious and p-ed off that I'd underinsured it...

fannyannie · 11/04/2007 11:39

I'm just amazed that they only had 3 people to move it TBH. I didn't get my upright moved by a pianomover when we moved house (was too late to get the only decent one in the area) so took a gamble on the delivery people looking after it ok.

Was a bit hairraising as they didn't have a van with a platform on it - but there were still 4 of them manouvering it about - and that was for a cheap upright!!

whoops

SoupDragon · 11/04/2007 11:43

They only spent £26k at auction, it was worth £45k.

fannyannie · 11/04/2007 11:43

the van does look like it says "something" pianomovers on it.........indeed a google search throws up this website!

SoupDragon · 11/04/2007 11:44

OMG - they were piano movers!! Look at the van

MrsBadger · 11/04/2007 11:44

can't help feeling they should have covered the poor thing with a sheet rather than taking a picture of it with its insides hanging out.

SoupDragon · 11/04/2007 11:45

That's not going to get them any business in the future is it?

Nightynight · 11/04/2007 11:45

now where was that thread where someone was asking about recommendations for removal companies?

SoupDragon · 11/04/2007 11:46

"...a wealth of experience spanning over 30 years - the longest established piano carriers in the UK.

Since 1968 we have gained respect for our handling of all musical instruments throughout the UK and Europe.

... Handling hundreds of pianos every week, with our ever modernising fleet of instrument vehicles, manned by experienced professional staff."

Oh dear oh dear

Nightynight · 11/04/2007 11:46

they are specialist piano movers

not any more, perhaps.

Surely the piano movers will be liable, not the owners? They'll have their own liability insurance.

LazyLine · 11/04/2007 11:47

What sort of idiot saves up for 2 years to buy something that important to them and then doesn't get it insured for the replacement amount?

harpsichordcarrier · 11/04/2007 11:55

"A concert grand piano valued at £45,000 is thought to have been wrecked after falling off a removal lorry in Devon."

thought to have been wrecked??
Oh no, I'm sure it will be fine

MrsBadger · 11/04/2007 11:58

'Couple of nails and a bit of gaffer tape and it'll be good as new, guv'

Now Harpsi, own up, have you ever dropped a harpsichord?

I know the papers are full of dire news from the four corners of the world but I have to confess this article made me yelp with anguish when I saw it this morning

lionheart · 11/04/2007 12:09
