I would say straight to the point of being arch and over egging it.....mock serious.

Some nice lines tho

'Slow, black, sloe black, bombazine bonneted',
'Soft as a mouse with goves on'

Something about letting in the morning
Mrs Evan Prtichard, 'And Mind it wipes its feet'

I just wanted to warn him if the audiance would be laughing

so it doesn't put him off iyswim

'they' have to be played straight to make it work. They believe in themselves, but we see them as cartoons, groteques. And that is what is funny

RTKangaMummy · 14/02/2007 21:34

Yes thanks I get what you mean, I think

They act as per the script but people may laugh at the words

So like Hyacinth thinks she can sing and believes she can sing

and is oblivious to the fact she is dreadful and that people run away from her

Any tips about how they can do the voices to make it easy for the audiance to understand

when they are Mr and Mrs Pugh and when they are voices

I saw it done on stage in a very effective and simple way. Minimal props, and the cast donned hats or aprons etc, to show which person was which

Blandmum · 14/02/2007 21:44

You can also do it so the characters are towards the front of the stage under lights, and the voices, to the sides in shaddows

RTKangaMummy · 14/02/2007 21:44

Yes I thought of apron for mrs pugh

it deffo has to be extremly simple staging

It is totally done by two 11 year olds

what about for the voices what would they wear?

MB you are a genius

simple single items I think, but in feeping with the role and status of each of the characters. So the tarty girl (the one with all the babies) should have a rough shawl, but mrs pugh would be a bit posher

RTKangaMummy · 14/02/2007 21:49

Thank you guys

You are all deffo brill

I feel soooooooooo much better now I was sooooooo confused when I read the script he showed me
