Musical for my 9yo DD?

DH & I are taking DD out to London for her Birthday treat.

We are doing the Science Museum and having a meal out - but is there a show we could get tickets for?

What is on? What would we expect to pay?

Any thoughts?

TIA
KMc

I've heard wonderful things from someone who saw The Sound Of Music last week, but you would need to check that it is suitable for a 9 year old.

hmmm, not tempted yet

Try "Blue Man Group" or "Stomp". Read the reviews online or in Time Out. Took dd, a friend and a 9 year old boy to see the Blue Men a few weeks ago, and they all loved it.

Cats? My SIL took her DDs aged 8 and 10 at the weekend. They loved it.

Not convinced

How adult is Dirty Dancing/Mamma Mia/We will Rock you?
I really like the look of 6 Dance Lessons in ^ weeks - but maybe DD won't

I wanted something dancing and fab - but I might be disappointed

Well I loved We Will Rock You when i saw it....was amazing and loved singing along to all the Queen classics....but if ur dd's not into endless singing and dancing then perhaps not the thing! I agree on Mary Poppins...havent seen it but sounds AMAZING!

I loved Cats and Phantom as a kid, also Joseph. Mamma Mia is supposed to be good.

tortoiseshell · 22/11/2006 18:06

Oh, Beauty and the Beast is absolutely stunning.

tortoiseshell · 22/11/2006 18:07

cats is really good for dancing in particular. Or Chicago?

Sheraz · 22/11/2006 18:34

Mamma mia is fab, don't think any swearing, and a few subtle sex references but not overt. LoL funny in places and great music, a 9yr old girl would really enjoy it and so would Mum. Am thinkningof taking my 9yr old niesce next time!

julienetmum · 22/11/2006 22:56

I wouldn't really reccomend Chicago

Guys & Dolls is fab and I know 9 year olds who have been taken to it but it is pretty risque, Take BAck Your Mink is done exactly like a striptease.

What about Wicked? FAb music, wouldn't reccomend it for much younger than 9 but reckon that would be OK. Not seen it on stage though only heard the CD & read the lib.

Agree on last Chicago = too adult!
