Is anyone else going to see this at cinemas tomorrow or next week?
I've booked tickets for myself and DS, who is 12, nearly 13, but when I went to the cinema website to check times it says it is a Certificate 15 !
WTF?!
This definitely wasn't showing when I booked the tickets, so what should I do now? (Am waiting to speak to Box Office when they open at 10 am)
Will they stop him from going in?

I bet I'm not the only parent in this situation.

Why 15? The stage show was 13+

I'm guessing - but maybe it's because cinema classifications are either 12 or 15....so if the stage show certification was 13+ then the cinema would have to go with 15 as 12 would be considered too young.
Having said that, I didn't realise that stage shows had classifications like that....recommendations yes. Confused

Theatre shows are usually exempt from classification I thought (as Les Mis anniversary performance was) but perhaps on viewing it the BBFC decided this needed a rating.

I've not seem it but I'm told the language & content is unsuitable for younger children.

But I was sold tickets, and at the time there was no mention of a rating! There is nothing on my tickets - this classification has just appeared in the last couple of weeks on the website.
It's not showing on some other cinema websites... Confused

I've just googled it & it's showing as 15 on my local cinema, however there are other shows with tbc on.

If you were sold tickets without a classification them you should be given a refund.

I've never been asked the age of people I'm buying tickets for at the cinema though. Not even when I'm buying "teen" tickets for a film with a 15 cert where presumably it would be possible to be buying for 13 or 14 year old.

Picturesinthefirelight · 21/05/2014 10:12

The live screening was originally 12a oddly enough.

Oh well, we went, and nobody batted an eyelid, and there were loads of kids who looked 11+ !

Absolutely fantastic production - really recommend it if you can get tickets for the showing on 29th May...
