What' s on Your Cultural Wish list for the next few months and beyond?

After a summer of virtually no cultural stimulation, I'm thinking ahead to an autumn of inspired and uplifting experiences. As many of the in-demand shows require advance ticket purchases (and thus a bit of planning), I'm hoping that culturally savvy Mumsnetters can point me toward the "must sees".

I've already secured opening night tickets for "Porgy and Bess" at the Savoy, but would love to add some equally inspiring events to the list to take me away from the mundane.

What current/upcoming events are on your "wish list" for theatre, art, music and dance?

Earlybird, not on many mailing lists these days (full marks to the Young Vic for not giving up on me...)
I mainly read stuff in the broadsheets tbh. If I like a director or actor's work, or the playwright, I will usually book pdq.
From what's on this autumn I would go NOW for Caroline or Change, unless you HATE Tony Kushner, and the production of The Alchemist - Jonson's funniest play and with a jewel of a cast in Simon Russell Beale, Alex Jennings and Lesley Manville. Looks v. promising.
Coram Boy is a revival of last year's stunning adaptation of Jamila Gavin's book for teenagers, but really not suitable for the under 12s.

Yes.Hermykne,with the children.

Maybe next year when they are 3 and 6 (or poss. year after).
Feel that those places are a must-very embarassed that I haven't yet 'done' them.

Lol CF,and thanks for the tip.I recall your boast about shagging in 18 different countries or summat!

Marina - thanks for the tips. Will get onto it straight away.

BTW - don't hate Tony Kushner at all. Was lucky enough to see "Angels in America" in NYC. As a bit of trivia, his aunt was my real estate broker. I met him at a party in her apartment around the time "Angels" was the hot ticket in Manhattan. Very nich man.

Getting all excited about my outing to "Porgy and Bess" in November. Here's latest publicity material - it sounds like it's going to be a wonderful production. Still no idea who is in it though.....

About Porgy and Bess
The Gershwins? musical masterpiece PORGY AND BESS is one of the towering achievements of Twentieth Century American musical theatre. A bittersweet love story set in South Carolina during the Great Depression, the work features arguably one of the greatest, most beautiful and moving musical scores ever written for the stage, including such classics as Summertime, I Got Plenty o? Nothin?, It Ain?t Necessarily So and I Loves You, Porgy.

Since its first performance on Broadway in 1935, PORGY AND BESS has gone on to achieve unparalleled fame; with landmark productions across the globe.

London will write a new chapter in the history of the show this autumn, with the premiere of a brand new £3 million musical production specially adapted and directed by Trevor Nunn.

Extensively reworked and re-orchestrated as a 2 hour 20 minute musical, to draw more deeply on the story?s Southern roots and injected with renewed verve and pace, this fresh interpretation will also bring to the Savoy Theatre one of the biggest companies in the West End - including a cast of 40 and a 20-piece orchestra.
