Just watched the film again .. (a pretty rubbish quality video actually) but nevertherless, this film has such a huge impact on me every single time I see it.
I love it.. Liza particularly.. but Micheal York too.. and as for Joel Grey.. brilliant.

Anyone else?

(and.. dare I admit... my ultimate dream is one day to play Sally Bowles on stage..Blush)

Whoops done it now!!!

"life is a cabaret ole chum, so come to the cabaret"

and as for me... HA! and as for me...

I made my mind up back in Chelsea... when I go.. I'm going like Elsie."

oh I love it.... I shall wax lyrically (alone) on this thread forever!!

I love it too Grin

But not to the extent to aspiring to wandering round on stage in fishnets and not much else Grin

well the prospect would certainly encourage me to take the diet a bit more seriously!!

I still treasure the memory of the (terribly proper) chamber choir girls from university singing Don't Tell Mama one drunken night.

I think we were more repressed than we realised.

Grin Grin
Are you reminiscing?

I'll come and watch when you're on stage with D!

I burst out laughing in church today for no reason and everyone stared at me. Actually, there was a reason - I just suddenly remembered that bizarre George Fox and his shaggy locks song! I thought I controlled myself admirably at the time, but honestly ...!

I love it tooSmile It was on tv quite late a few weeks ago. I thought..I'll just watch a few minutes and ended up watching the whole lot.

The underlying issues about nazis and homosexuality is very well done. The part where the young boy stands up to sing makes the hairs stand up on my neck. Terrifying.

Tiny G, I totally agree,I think the whole movie is really well constructed.

GrinRoisin, I had erased that song from my brain (on purpose) but now you mention it it was rather bizarre - perhaps you would like to recite it for the MN's who didn't have the joy of singing it recently!!

I can never decide if Liza was beautiful or not. She certainly had something about her...

roisin · 19/03/2006 15:03

I can only remember bits of the chorus (thank goodness), and unfortunately neglected to purchase a copy of the new Quaker Song Book ROFL! Did you not buy one?!

unicorn · 19/03/2006 15:11

roisin I'm sure you can still buy one if you are having withdrwal symptoms - which it sounds like you are Wink Or perhaps whatshisname who kept calling out for more Quaker hymns will let you borrow his!!!

Tg.. I think Liza is quite unique in her 'beauty'- she looked like she has one eye substantially bigger than the other in various scenes in the film (unless it is the makeup)
Did she and Micheal York have a 'thing' going as their chemistry/rapport was very real I thought.
