Avenue Q on tour - good birthday party outing for a mixed group of 17-year-olds?

Has anyone seen it? We've heard good things, but not seen it. It's on at a theatre near us on ds' 17th birthday, so are thinking it could be a reasonable birthday party thing.

Any opinions?

s it appropriate for kids? Er, well, this is where it gets a bit fuzzy. If your teenager is mature enough to see a musical about issues such as sex, drinking, and surfing the web for porn, then they'll probably love AVENUE Q too! Only you can judge. It's hard to say what exact age is right to see AVENUE Q - parents should use their discretion based on the maturity level of their children. But we promise you this - if you do bring your teenagers to AVENUE Q - they'll think you're really cool!

That's off the Avenue Q website. Whaddaya think?

Well, I've seen it several times and think it's hilarious BUT I would have to be absolutely clear that the parents of the other children going were OK with me taking them as there is a lot of swearing, MANY references to porn and the most explicit sex scene I've ever seen on stage which despite being performed by puppets still made me blush!

Hope that helps.

Thank you, that does help. Ds' friends are quite streetwise, so I think the explicit puppet sex is possibly a plus not a minus. Grin But I will think about alerting parents too.

we agonised whether to join a large group of friends who were seeing it but my dd and another girl her age came along. I posted on here at the time and got all sorts of advice. My conclusion was that they probably hear worse at school... so why not be open and have a laugh?

Lots of the songs are on youtube if you want a sneak peak.
