Vinted fraud (Help)

Journey1234 · 17/08/2025 11:09

Iv been a long term user of Vinted and I have really enjoyed it for buying and selling. Iv not had any issues until now. A couple of weeks ago I sold a pair of Christian Louboutins my ex bought me them he bought them second hand and I only wore them once. They came with the box,the dust bag, spare heels etc. very good condition.

I wanted £100 plus but someone offered me £75 I was going on holiday and thought oh well £75 is going to help and plus someone could get a nice bargain. I sent the shoes the very next day with Evri.. a few days later I got a message to say the shoes where now at the shop for the buyer to collect/ a couple of days later I realized the buyer had still not collected from the shop. This happens busy lives etc a couple of days later I messaged the buyer to tell him the shoes were at the shop to collect he replied saying he had been and the shop keeper couldn’t find them and that he would be going back tomorrow to try again! I found this unusual but i guess it can happen. He told me the next day that the shoes weren’t there and he was going to report to Vinted. I also reported it and thought it would go down as lost and I would still get my £75.

I went on holiday and I was sitting with my partner and we just happened to check Vinted to check the status. My partner clicked on the buyers items for sale and we realised that he was a seller of refurbished Christian Louboutins he refurbs the soles and sells them on! This isn’t an issue for me as each to their own however my partner noticed that one of his listings was our shoes that we had sold to him. It was the very same box with the same markings but he had pulled one white sticker off. The shoes we had sold had the same markings inside and they were a size 5.5 which is a rare find:

I reported it to Vinted immediately with the proof of the box and shoe markings/ then I messaged the buyer saying that he had scammed me and that I knew the shoes he was selling where indeed the ones I sold him etc.i did also say how fucking dare you!!! (My mistake) I was angry, his reply within 5 minutes was….The money that you have paid for these shoes is safe until the investigation has been completed.

he never denied it. ??? I sent him my screen shots of the shoes and the exact same markings I told him to do the right thing and accept that he had received the shoes so that my £75 would be released to me/ I hear nothing back then all of a sudden I log on Vinted app to get a message saying your account has been blocked.

We are writing to let you know that your behaviour or content shared on Vinted is inappropriate and violates our Terms and Conditions.Unfortunately your account is now definitively blocked. Please note that we do not tolerate inappropriate behaviour or content sharing such as threatening, insulting, harassing other users. We would also like to remind you that creation of multiple accounts is not tolerated at Vinted and all subsequent accounts will be removed as well.

i have clicked on appeal and I have told them the situation but i have Hurd nothing. I feel really low about this as it’s just not right.

I admit I shouldn’t have swore but he has stolen of me. He may have some sort of deal going on with the shop keeper where the shop keeper is in on the scam too!! apparently this happens from time to time they pretend it’s not there and the guy slips him say £20 hush money. I feel so sad that Iv been banned and I dont have my £75 while that scammer still has the shoes on his listing/ what would you do:

I don't think there's much you can do unfortunately. I've read many stories of people being banned from Vinted (for random reasons) and none of them managed to get it overturned. One of the reasons why I never leave a balance in my Vinted account, I always withdraw it. You might need to chalk this one up to experience.

Journey1234 · 17/08/2025 11:19

The £75 was never in my balance due to the buyer saying he didn’t receive the item. It was under investigation then once they had reached an outcome I would potentially get my money put into my available balance. I’m the one being banned for swearing yet he gets to keep my shoes that he stole while I’m left out of pocket. The scammer wins.

I know, it's very unfair but I don't think there's much you can do. I only mentioned withdrawing credit balances in case other people read this, they should be aware of the risk of letting a balance sit in their account.

I’m on a couple of facebook groups for American eBay and they report this sort of thing to the police and get a crime number.
I haven’t heard of anyone managing to be unblocked from Vinted but I have read people getting there money back. It seems to involve writing letters and possibly court action.
I’ve had some low value things go missing in this way and I’ve also had trouble claiming for lost parcels

stayathomegardener · 17/08/2025 11:39

Could you claim from Evri for non delivery?
I would also appeal to Vinted on their decision or small claims court but I’m petty like that.
Still smarting over a pair of designer shoes I purchased on their, didn’t fit so I tried to resell them via Vinted… blocked as fakes Angry

NotTheHair · 17/08/2025 11:43

Why would you type swear words into an app when you need the app to get it sorted? I think you lost any chance you had there, I'm afraid.

Scammers are scum so I hope it it does resolve for you, but you've made that difficult. I think also if it happens again don't message the person directly of accusing them of a scam - they're hardly going to say "oh yes sorry, you caught me, I'll stop scamming now"!

HelloHattie · 17/08/2025 11:51

He probably wanted you to swear at him so he could report the abuse. Life lesson here.

Iloveeverycat · 17/08/2025 12:01

But if he had collected the shoes doesn't the shop confirm collection.

Evri did deliver though. The delivery address was the shop. OP received a notification when they were delivered; the item must have been scanned at the shop to generate that notification.

OP has already said she has appealed.

Festivespirit85 · 09/09/2025 19:17

Get someone to buy them from him and make out there is an issue with them when you get them back. Play him at his own game.

Personperson · 24/09/2025 13:48

This is why I came off vinted, despite having no issues.

There are too many chances for people to scam and be dishonest.

I'm on ebay now. I don't sell as often but I generally get more for my items and have more protection as a seller than I ever did on vinted.

Puffsox · 08/01/2026 12:58

Ebay can be as bad. My daughter sold an almost new pair of upmarket trainers, with size clearly marked. The buyer complained to eBay that they did not fit,so was not going to release payment.Ebay always seems to take the buyer's side,it took forever to sort this and get name off blacklist. On another occasionEvri reckoned they had delivered something to me,and sent a photo of it lying in a hall. The picture did not mpatch anywhere in the building( block of flats), but I got no sense out of Evri.In the end,I gave up,as the item was only about £15.
The original seller( company) disclaimed all responsibility.
These situations are rare for me,I am glad to say.

BananaPeels · 10/01/2026 15:59

Surely you can launch a small claims court action for your money if you can prove that vinted have knowingly not paid you the money you are owed?
