Hi please don’t judge!

I’ve hit rock bottom - will be ringing the doctors tomorrow.

It all came to a head doing a food shop yesterday in a supermarket. My daughter started having an anxiety attack waiting to check out as the lady behind was too close. I asked her “could you step on the red line” I was abrupt in my tone, it escalated to me shouting and calling her an unpleasantry name. The whole shop was silent.

I’m now worried that she’s contacted the police and they will come after me. I already have a record from before and am worried I’ll be sent down. Please be kind 2020 has been an awful year for me and atm I can’t see light

You won't get sent down for shouting at someone, you behaved like a dick but that's all, its a stressful time for everyone let it go but maybe try shopping online if tmits thay stressful for you.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 03/01/2021 14:48

Unpleasant or illegal slur? I would take some flowers and an card with an apology in it, and leave it at customer services for her.

Lilye88 · 03/01/2021 14:50

It was a swear word which she didn’t like. She was a customer not the shop assistant. I know there’s no excuse and I will be seeking help tomorrow. Sorry I just don’t have anyone to offload too

Just to add the word wasn’t aimed at her colour, race, religion etc

It's very unlikely that you'd 'be sent down' for a verbal altercation. However it depends on your past criminal history. If you're concerned you'd be best to contact a solicitor who has access to all the information.

Do you have a mental health diagnosis or personality disorder? It's positive that you recognise your behaviour is unacceptable, now you need help finding coping mechanisms to prevent further incidents.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/01/2021 15:03

Everybody is stressed out at the moment. I would be very suprised if there was any comeback from this. How would anyone know where you live? The police won't come out for actual crime round here, as they haven't the personnel (unless its covid breaking parties etc) so I can't see this happening. If you didn't murder her, and haven't told us, I think you're safe :)

@Orf1abc thank you for your reply. I’ve had a mental health diagnosis about 10 years ago however I’ve not gone down the medication route. This last year has tested me especially Christmas so I need to wait for the doctors to open tomorrow. To get mediction
@Chattycatty online shopping maybe the way forward or my usual 9pm at night.

Sorry to bore you with this all.

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants thank you I’m worried I’ll be on the police page cctv wanted etc! I am an over thinker and I know being stressed is no excuse.

I just lost it having to tell a lady old enough to be my mother to step back because my daughter was starting an attack.

You won’t get sent down for shouting at someone in a supermarket however your dramatic attack of this women will have absolutely not helped your daughters panic attack one bit so next time consider being more calm around your daughter in this situation

Lilye88 · 14/02/2021 20:16

@Umakomp thanks for your judgemental input 👏🏻

I’m not being judgemental I’m just saying the way you handled the situation only made the matter worse

Reinventinganna · 14/02/2021 22:00

Was your last offence a public order offence?

lovelilies · 15/02/2021 01:59

I wouldn't worry honestly. Swearing at someone for getting in the way when your daughter was having a panic attack is forgivable. It's not like security had to pin you down or boot you out!
Stop over thinking it, this lockdown is getting to most people, you can't do anything to make it right so just forgive yourself and move on Thanks

FossilisedFanny · 15/02/2021 02:06

Does anyone in the shop have your address? I can’t see anything coming of this , how will they even contact you ?

jazz1995 · 15/02/2021 02:07

One of our neighbours was stabbed 2 weeks ago. It took the police an hour an half to come out (ambulance came within 10 mins)

I highly doubt the police will come after you for calling someone a nasty word- worse being cunt, dickhead, bitch whatever.

nobodysdaughter · 15/02/2021 02:36

Try not to worry, unless you're on a license or have restrictive bail conditions it'll be fine.
It's a horrible place to be though, knowing you have done something out of order, then obsessing about consequences. I have variable mental health, and I've been there.
Good luck with your doctor, medication could be the answer. For me it means I can live a responsible, productive life, and am not out in public causing all kinds of drama!
Hope you feel better soon.

Lilye88 · 17/02/2021 23:03

Thank you for all the responses. I don’t always get notifications. I’m over this episode now 👍🏻 Medication from the doctors is working so onwards and upwards Flowers
