Waiting deadline gone...do I nudge?

Hi everyone,

I know waiting times = the length of a particularly ratty piece of string, and I wrote about waiting to hear back on a full MS request sometime in May.

Well, the agent got back to me mid-June to update me. They said they'd finished the book and it had great potential, but they were waiting on an external reader's notes and would be in touch either way by the end of last month at the latest.

I know hearing back on a full can take anything from a few weeks to nine months, with three months seeming to be the average/the point at which it's appropriate to nudge. I'm not at the three-month mark yet, but because this agent said they'd get back to me by the end of last month, would you say it's ok to nudge in this instance? And if so, any good nudging tips?

In the meantime, other rejections are trickling in so am obviously fixating on this glimmer of hope!

Thank you so much.

IMHO success in any field of the arts is as much a matter of luck as it is of talent - it's luck if you submit at the right time when what you have to offer aligns with a rising trend - look at the world of modelling for a parallel - in short the publishing world is as fickle as a seaside flag. Submit, forget, move on - focus on what really matters - your next writing project.
