PhD CW at Bath Spa, anyone?

I am wondering if anyone has done a PhD in CW at Bath Spa. I want to apply for 2025 entry and I'm interested if anyone can give me informed thoughts on their requirements. I did an MFA that finished in 2020 and had to write a separate essay on publishing / the industry in some way or form, but the PhD at Bath Spa is asking for a proposed "contextualist research" and I think I have the gist of that, but would welcome any input. Here's what they say on the website:Your research proposal (2 single-spaced, or 4 double-spaced pages) should give a clear account of the proposed creative manuscript, the proposed contextualising research, and the integral relationship between these two strands. Your writing sample should be in two parts. The first part (6 double-spaced pages) should demonstrate the best example you have of your ability to write in your proposed PhD genre. The second part (4 double-spaced pages) should demonstrate your critical ability.

Hi,

Have no experience of Bath Spa but if of interest, I recall reading Sarah Perry's (The Essex Serpent) PhD thesis which I think was part an early draft of the Essex Serpent under a different name and part an analytical thesis of the relevant genre which I think was the result of her research proposal - downloadable from the following page.

Confusion: Iris Murdoch, the Gothic, and the Sense of Place.

Apologies if it's the wrong document or author.

Good luck.

@Zilla1 Thank you so much. I have read that book, so this will be really helpful in terms of how they sit side by side. Thanks a million.
