UK or US setting?

Does a US setting (with US characters) sell better than a UK one?
The UK publisher, Bookouture, said in a video interview that over 50% of their readers are in the US, which made me wonder if this publisher (and maybe other UK ones too) prefer a US setting-- especially if the story is set in a small town?
I have an idea for a Hallmark-type sweet romance, but because I'm in the UK it would be easier for me to set the story in a small English town with English characters. But if a US setting would increase the chances of acceptance maybe I should set the story in the US. (With the risk that there are bound to be a few little things I wouldn't get right. But I could perhaps find a critque group that would help me with that?) Any advice would be great.

I think writing about what you know about is really key.

Stick with the UK. I really doubt the setting will make a significant difference to your chances of being published, and a story set in a place you know and can describe from life will be a hundred times more convincing than one set somewhere less familiar.

Thank you. I'll go with that advice-- it makes a lot of sense.

I’ve wondered if that’s why several of the books I read that are set in the UK & by British authors have random American words in - like a born & bred Cumbrian saying faucet instead of tap, or a Gloucestershire woman saying she’s taken out the garbage. Sops to the US market.

It's interesting question, but I prefer UK
