One off book print

Hi All,

I am working on a slightly ridiculous project for my husbands 40th birthday of writing a book for him. We make up and tell ridiculous stories and I am finally getting them written.

However, I seem to be struggling with printing, the last quote was around £220 for a hardback 50 page book!
Any ideas from those of you who have more experience than I where I can get a one off print?

I might be wrong as I did it quickly but after a quick search, Inky little fingers www.inkylittlefingers.co.uk online quote came across around £55 for a one off 50 page hard cover book (I have nothing to do with them).

I also looked at a hard cover photo album at Photobox as a comparison (presuming I could use text images instead of photographs) and that came out around the same.

Good luck.

Try Lulu.com. They're a specialist short-run printers who offer hardback and paperback options. Very reliable and decent quality - I've used them for a few similar projects.

Happy birthday to your DH! What a lovely gift he'll be getting.

Blurb might be cheaper, depending on your preferences for size, paper and so on -

Wow, thank you for the suggestions.
Birthday isn't until June but I'm determined to do this well.
£55 seems infinitely more reasonable I'll have a look at a few of those links when I get closer to the end. I'm about 50% of the way through and then need to find a willing victim to proof read, I may go down the route of someone online, I can't imagine be being able to ask any of my friends with a straight face to give it a once over and if it's going to be made into a book needs to be as good as I can get it, I may be back to ask questions on best route for a proof reader soon :)

Try Short Run Press in Exeter. Also I'm a proofreader Wink I'll do you a couple of pages free of charge and a no-strings quote if you PM me when it's ready.
