My Dd 9 loves writing and we can see that she is very good at it but I am not sure how you can help her.. Obvious thing is to encourage her to read.
Dd16 is a bookworm but Dd9 is not so much but she is really good at writing poems and stories.
Just need some ideas please

This is something I'm very interested in too. I've found a few printable resources on sites like Teachers Pay Teachers. I usually Google things like writing prompts for children pdf. The Jacqueline Wilson magazine has some fun open ended activities too.

Can you do some links please?
I have a story box ( cubes ) you roll and make up a story depending on what you get

I think you encourage her by encouraging her! If she is good at it I doubt she's short of ideas.

The thing she will really have to develop is the ability to get to the end of a draft. She could do NaNoWriMo - there's a shorter version for children.

And buy her nice notebooks. Probably the best thing my parents ever did for my writing was when my dad came back from a business trip with a lovely silk-covered notebook for me. It led to me writing my first book-length draft because I simply had to fill the whole thing up.

I would also hold off on critiquing her. There's time for that later. Let her experience the joy of writing without looking over her shoulder all the time.

You can encourage her to enter competitions but be careful because the odds of winning are so small, she might end up thinking she's no good if she doesn't win, so only do that if she has the kind of personality that can enter something and let it go, not obsess.

This is the young writers' version of NaNoWriMo.

Google "The Literacy Shed". There are some absolutely fantastic resources, writing prompts and story starters covering a variety of interests and topics. I use it a lot in teaching!
