si I gave an idea for a children's book, think spot tge dog and ' that's not my' age, so pictures are a big part of the book but I am not an artist. Do I organise tge drawings? Submit my poor effort? Have no book without artwork? Join forces with someone I know who is currently working on his own publishing deal and is very graphically talented?

If you're not an artist then don't do them. If they are picked up by a publisher then the publisher will find an illustrator. Don't join forces with someone unless you wish to self publish the books as the publishers like to match an author up.

Agree with the above. Also, it's worth being aware that books for this age are almost always produced in-house, i.e. by the publisher's own editorial team (like That's Not My...) - or they are created entirely by illustrators rather than writers (like Eric Hill's Spot the Dog).

Thanks guys, so work more content like spot rather than 'that's not my'? I think that is the better way tbh.

Content is the way to go. Mini's right, the cardboard books are generally written in house. If there's no author name on the cover then they would have paid a flat fee for it. You also don't have to be an artist to illustrate, there's other media that can be used, like digital or photographs.
