South dublin relocation

We are relocating from the UK to south dublin in early 2027.

we will have a 7, 5 and 1 year old.

I am getting to grips with the irish schooling system and realise we join long queues…
we will initially be based in Leopardstown.
I am making enquiries to Goatstown ET, St Olaf’s, Oatlands Primary and The Children’s House. We have contacted St Andrews and it looks hopeless (it’s also very £€!)

I am keen to have my daughter and son in co-Ed together and we are not particularly religious.

anyone with experience of these schools?? Where would people rate highly?

it’s overwhelming leaving a brilliant school here where we are deeply entrenched in the community. I want to feel part of that in dublin and have children in the neighbourhood who are also in school together.

thankyou

If you're going to be in Leopardstown have you applied to the Stepaside Educate Together because you might be within walking distance of that (depending on which side of the M50 you are).

Worry about a house first, rentals are few and far between. And unless you've been working in Ireland for a year, mortgages are very hard to get. Daft.ie or myhome.ie are worth a look to see where you may end up. Unless you have property in Leopardstown already? But all the primary schools are good, and the Catholic schools here are not very religious (compared to the UK anyway) and are likely to much more diverse than ET.

We are from the UK too but have been living elsewhere abroad for the last several years and will be moving to Dublin this Summer. Our children are 8 4 and 2 so similar ages to yours. Our is a very quick move so we have opted for independent schools at least initially because we haven’t decided exactly where we will live yet. We put ours down on the waiting list for St Andrews thinking we had no chance but both were offered a place there. Good luck with your move!

Olafs is a lovely coed primary school. I know people with kids there and they're very happy with it. Another one not too far from there is Ballinteer Educate Together primary school
