Moving to Dublin

I'm planning to move from Sligo to Dublin as I approach retirement. I'd like to live in the city, close to cultural attractions, amenities, airport and public transport. I have no family in either Dublin or Sligo, so finding the right area and convenience is important. My budget is €520,000. I'm nearing 60 and looking for a well-connected, vibrant area. I'd love to hear suggestions and start researching.

I would recommend castleknock.
Nice village. Lots of local activities, shops, cafe, bar, new restaurant opening soon, active tidy towns, tennis club, 3 local golf clubs, close to Phoenix Park. Train station to connect to city, green luas (via broombridge) & Sligo. 2 bus routes into city. Some well priced apartments in Farmleigh (close to village) & Fawn Lodge (at entrance to park). Also close enough to airport via M50.

I'd recommend Dundrum in South Dublin. Lots going on. Large Shopping Centre with a theatre and plenty of restaurants. It's on the Luas line, so only a 15 minute journey to the city centre. 5-7 minutes to the M50 for access out of Dublin. A Community Centre runs lots of different activities and adult education courses in the evening. It's also about 10 minutes drive from Marlay Park which is fantastic for walking etc. And if you're into hiking, you're literally at the foot of the Dublin mountains. There are quite a few apartments in the area which should fall within your budget.
