First of all have a trawl through Idealista.es or .com for an idea of what's out there at the moment.

Why would you need an Irish agent (assuming you are in Ireland!) Just wondered why you wouldn't deal with a Spanish agent. Roughly where are you thinking of in Spain, and do you want new or second hand?

I hope I'm not patronising you, but have you been reading about the disaster that is illegal occupation of holiday homes by squatters in Spain? It is impossible to get them out, and YOU as the utility bill owner are liable to pay all the bills, and the community charge, and the taxes, and maintenance. Well they would apply whether or not squatters got in! Renting out property in Spain is not as easy as it once was, particularly for holiday lets. Look up the rules.

I am not the owner of a Spanish property, but my brother is, and he bought it back in the early 2000s and it is fully paid for now. It's in the Estepona region and it's a very nice area indeed.

Hi yes we have looked into certain regions. We are quite familiar with Spain due to DH work but not bought a property.

I wanted an Irish estate agent based out there if possible as they could take us through the Irish side of things. UK estate agents are familiar with Brexit etc but that doesn't apply to us. We could use Spanish of course but Irish would be handier. Its not an essential!

Yes I know about squatters etc , its quite shocking so am cautious due to that...

Hi, I live in Spain - bought originally as a holiday home.
Would you be looking to mortgage?
We were lucky enough to buy cash so no mortgage, as the money was in € no exchange rate to navigate.
ALL of the areas have english speaking estate agents - the rules / taxes are different region to region so it makes sence to use a local agent.
