Walking from Dublin Airport to Swords

Hi. I am visiting Dublin this week. Could anyone tell me if it would be ok to walk from the airport to the premier Inn at swords around 5pm on a weekday? I know it’s about 3km. I have early flight next day but presume walking at 6am not good idea (wouldn’t generally do that in any city)

many thanks!

Timing wise I don't see a problem but, I'm not so sure there's a footpath the whole way.
Best way is to get the no. 41 Dublin Bus from the airport, going towards Swords. Ask to be let off at the stop nearest Airside Retail Park, PI is there.
Also, I just remembered - they used to run a shuttle bus, so check if they still do.

Perfect - thank you!

There are ice/snow/low temperature warnings in effect this week in Ireland. I don't think Dublin will get snow. But the footpaths mght be very icy or slippery. Your walk might take longer than usual due to the weather conditions.

Landed! Cold but no delays. Hope weather holds out for next 24hrs. Not going to walk to airport in morning however - would get lost!

thank you.

The Premier Inn has a shuttle bus that runs every 30 mins from 4.15am, costs €3 and only takes a few mins.

That's good to know, I wasn't sure it still running the shuttle.

We used it two weeks ago

Back at airport - great shuttle service.

another question - is nurofen /ibuprofen not available OTC in Dublin? I have only managed to get paracetamol and aspirin (not a hangover!)

It is, never had an issue getting it before, normally you can get it in chemists

Huwipulotu · 08/01/2025 10:08

Couldn’t get it at either petrol station or several airport shops (only had paracetamol and aspirin). But back in UK so have bought it now.

It's definitely available OTC, maybe only from chemists though?? I'll have to keep an eye out in shops.
And if it contains codeine you have to answer a myriad of questions as to why you need it... what else have you tried... how often and how many do you take normally... .... I usually lie and say the dentist told me to get some. It's a pain in the arse!

It’s the same in UK for codeine but you can get plain ibuprofen off the shelf in loads of places including petrol stations. I just assumed it would be similar.

dosed up with nurofen now!
