We have very recently moved to Northern Ireland from London and me and the kids are venturing to Belfast for the day on Saturday via public transport, please give me your best ideas for a slightly nervous mum and boys 6,10. Thank you!

W5 and The Ulster museum are great, as is the view from the the shopping centre dome. Unless they're really into the history of the titanic being built I'd probably leave that.

Beware if you're on the train they're a bit fucked up ATM unfortunately.

At those ages I'd do the Ulster museum on Stranmillis, a visit to the botanic gardens (museum is in the grounds of the gardens) - there's a playground for your 6yo. Then lunch or dinner in Maggie May's (a Belfast classic) or Orto if they'd prefer pizza.

Nothing to be nervous about, Belfast is a really lovely city for a wander.

Ulster museum, botanic gardens (though a bit of a trek from city centre) and W5. Maybe check if there’s anything on for kids in the MAC

Thanks you all! We have been to giant's causeway and are fairly familiar with Antrim area from holidays as the boys dad is from here but it's just us three for the Belfast trip and it's been 20 years or so since my last visit into the city. Ulster museum and Botanic garden look great.

W5 are doing £7 tickets all Sept. You might have to book online. It's amazing for kids and has a softplay too.

We are vertigo is fab for that age group.

The Ulster Folk museum is excellent on any non rainy day. Take a picnic if warm enough but the cafe is nice too.

Didn’t try the transport museum but it is right next door.

I take it that you’ve already been OP but for anyone else planning on visiting who may be watching this thread Streamvale Farm is definitely worth a trip! Only 10 mins outside the city - it was DD’s absolute favourite place to go when she was younger. So much to do and see, plus the animals are incredibly well looked after.
