Nicest streets in Dublin?

Going to Dublin soon and I love to house watch 😄Any suggestions of nice streets fairly close to city centre? By nice streets I don't necessarily mean expensive houses (I know they are all expensive in Dublin!), but nice houses that are a bit different. I love the likes of Portabello Rd style colourful houses, or London mews', or anything a bit different.

Thanks in advance.

Stand at the top of Fitzwilliam Place and look all the way down to The National Maternity Hospital on the edge of Merrion Square and Mount Street and weep for what was once the longest intact Georgian street in the whole world.
It was almost a mile in length and passed through 2 squares - Fitzwilliam Square and Merrion Square.
In the late 1960s, 12 of these beautiful terraced houses were destroyed and a modern monstrosity replaced them.
Architectural firm Stephenson Gibney were responsible for the monstrosity as they had won a competition for the design in 1961.
In 2017 the modern monstrosity was replaced by another one 🥲
The windows in the latest iteration don't align with their Georgian neighbours.

Dd and I both love architecture and interior design, and we often go on what we call 'house walks' around different areas of Dublin. We have several favourites, but these two routes are easily accessible from town with around a 2 hour tour.

  1. Get the Luas to Beechwood, the whole area around it is a rich seam of beautiful houses . Head up Dunville Avenue towards Palmerston Road, then take the left hand turn by Morton's, You can then zig zag through the side streets until you get to Palmerston Road. Walk up towards the park, and if you have time around to Temple Road, you can get the Luas from Cowper back into town, or if you have the time/energy, go back along Palmerston Road the Belgrave Square, then along Mount pleasant to the canal. We love that walk!

No 2 route is: get the dart to Seapoint and you are going to zig zag through the side streets and between Monkstown Road and the coast. Don't miss Belgrave Square (yes there are two of them) and don't miss any of the side streets, they are full of jewels! There are lovely cafes in monkstown, then you are heading Salthill station to go back into town.

Enjoy!
