Taxing Irish pension in uk??

Hi all,
I have an Irish university pension, but have been living in uk for 15 years. I know the pension income is taxable in uk, but does anyone know if the tax-free lump sum is also tax-free in the UK? It would piss me off to pay tax on it since it would be tax-free if we were still in Ireland!

Well if you were a UK citizen the lump sum would be tax free, so I can only assume the same would apply to the Irish lump sum to be equitable.

Your current University may have a pensions advisor you could ask. I'm in much the same situation.

Unless it fits UK standards, UK tax rules may not automatically consider an Irish pension lump amount to be tax-free. It's best to check with HMRC first.
