Hi everyone,
Don't quite know where to put this so apologies.
My daughter is doing work experience next year. She is interested in Speech and language therapy. However after contacting a few places it has become obvious that confidentiality is an issue. Understandably. Does anyone know what would be a suitable alternative to slt without any confidentiality issues please?

TIA

That is a really niche one! Maybe with an SNA in schools?

Could she get work experience in a primary school maybe with the resource team or an early years service? My daughter is interested in working with children with additional needs and did her ty work experience in both those and got really good experience. She could also enquire about doing work experience with a SLT doing work with parents on how they can support their child as opposed to with the child.

I would also second asking in schools particularly those with asd classes and she could help the snas. Now in saying that my son is in an asd class and they always have third level students in doing work experience so maybe they wouldn't want a younger TY student but it's worth a try.

What about a regular kids drama/theatre class? For the little ones they're often not doing much acting, they're just playing games and doing activities and building confidence which I think would be in line with a lot of speech and language therapy activities anyway?

@kkloo that's an interesting idea. I will mention this to her
Thank you everyone
