Dublin restaurant recommendations please

We are going to Dublin with some friends, dh and I both eat anything pretty much (I'm a vegetarian) our friends are a bit more fussy. Quibble about prices but don't want a 'greasy spoon' needs plenty to choose from.

Looking for recommendations of nice restaurants mid priced, not necessarily booking required. Then I can let them choose and if they don't like it it's on them 😬 Thank you

First off - a lot of restaurants require booking and take a holding fee for that reservation because they have been stung by people making reservations and not showing up - so be aware of that.

You say you're interested in mid-priced restaurants - what is that in monetary terms per person?

I'll make a few recommendations when I see the answer to the mid-priced bit

You should look at www.opentable.ie for making bookings.

Here are some recommendations. Any with ** beside them I've actually eaten in and can personally say that the food is delicious!
https://www.hawksmoor.ie/
** Elephant & Castle Temple Bar - chicken wings are famous!
** Pichet - great food, great service.
** The Rustic Stone
** Captain Americas (very popular, also up steep stairs so not suitable if anyone has difficulties managing stairs)
** Thunder Road (similar to Captain Americas)
** Luigi Malones

There are loads, and I'm not exaggerating here, loads of good restaurants and eateries in Dublin. That is a tiny selection of places I've eaten as a Dubliner and I've tried to keep it to Dublin City Centre places. I wouldn't drink in Temple Bar (exorbitant prices) but eating there is usually ok.

Hawksmoor Steakhouse and Cocktail Bar in Dublin

Award-winning restaurant in Dublin serving ethically-sourced Irish beef steak & sustainable seafood with great cocktail bars.

I think Fallon and Byrne https://www.fallonandbyrne.com/our-restaurants/ might suit you well, they've a formal restaurant upstairs and also do good food in the Wine Cellar.

Toscana's

If you want somewhere fun with cocktails then El Silencio does great tacos and is a 'hidden' restaurant you have to find so can make it more amusing.

If you don't have a reservation and end up in centre of town, Lennons Yard (sp?) on Dawson Street is great for getting a last minute table - also a lovely heated courtyard area for drinks.

Port House tapas bars are nice too - good selection of food for all tastes and the staff are great at recommending wine!

Pacino.

Dunne & Crezini
Gotham Anne st
Hugos merrion row
the green hen Exchequer St
Peploes Stephen’s green

theres so many lovely restaurants, I wouldn’t risk a walk in though.

Many restaurants do an ‘early bird’ or a set menu much cheaper than an a la carte

I still think you need to specify what you mean by ‘mid-price’, though. If you’re coming from overseas, your idea of mid-price may not match Dublin’s. Hugo’s, mentioned by someone, and which I like, has started from around €14-16 and main courses from €35 or so. Is that your idea of mid-price?

MenoBabe · 17/04/2024 10:53

Capel Street has loads of world cuisine restaurants - especially Asian - great prices, buzzy, would recommend.

Starters, sorry, not ‘started’.
