Ordering Goods from the UK

Wise Craicnetters is there any way to circumvent legally the exorbitant charges when buying clothing from the UK ?
Pre Brexit there was parcel motel but I think that's gone.
I bought £15 leggings a couple of years ago, post Brexit, from a UK retailer and because of all the extra taxes and extra delivery charges they cost me nearly €40 !!!!
I know some bigger retailers and Amazon have put a system in place re costs but I want to buy a couple of tops and dresses from a small UK retailer.
Thanks in advance.

Sadly none that I’m aware. It’s really rubbish.
I miss shopping in the UK.

F*ck Brexit!

Where are you in the country? If you're anywhere close to the border, there are equivalent businesses to parcel motel who will receive your post for you, the only issue is you have to go and pick it up.

I miss parcel motel so much, it was so handy

I'm in Dublin so that option is out @miri1985
I try and buy from Irish suppliers and shops as much as possible but I've seen 2 cheap dresses but with taxes and shipping and An Post charges they would be at least doubled in price.

Thank you @miri1985 Flowers I could combine a visit there with a trip to Sprucefield.

I’m glad you’ve found a solution to your problem OP.

I have the opposite issue: I live in Northern Ireland and since Brexit a lot of GB and European businesses (e.g. Miele and Amazon) won’t deliver certain items to NI but will deliver them to ROI.

I’m not sure if it’s customs related issues or lack of understanding that NI is still in the GB internal market as well as still in the EU single market. It’s a real head melter of a situation 😫 I thought I’d post on Craicnet to ask if anyone knows of a service in ROI that would receive and deliver parcels to NI addresses.

I usually get from Amazon and get a free trial with them and get free delivery. Only charges I had to pay was when I ordered something that was over 150 euro. Parcel Motel was great. Used to love shopping local when younger but now in menopause cannot face it so easier buy online.

Sorry don't know of any company that does it the other way. Similarly you could get it sent somewhere in ROI and pick it up in person.

I do know of a friend of a friend who just puts down their NI address in as Ireland and I think 99% of the time the parcel makes it to them. The other 1% its returned to sender and she gets a refund
