Omg i am in the horrors with the poor family of the man who was found on the floor Dead in A and E in limerick. Investigation ongoing. Like what. His daughter was on drivetime . Said she was concerned for her father the night before and asked was anyone coming to him- she was told rudely a medical Dr was on the way. To cut to 6am. Guards at her mothers door. Dad had had a turn. Only found out on local media after the death that the hospital was carrying out an investigation. No open disclosure by the hosp,
No honesty or transparency. He had been there an hr on the floor. The poor man. Poor family .this govt should hang their head. The hosp accepts short comings in care etccetc. Total disgrace . I could nt be happy again to think my parent died on a floor and received no help atall in his final hours . Not much on this Media wise

Our A&E system is broken. The only surprise is there aren't more tragedies like this.

That poor man and his poor family. How horrible to imagine what the poor man went through. My MIL's in there now. It's a never ending sh*tshow. She was supposed to have a biopsy on Thursday, now won't happen till Tuesday. She'll be there for a week with absolutely nothing happening. How is it always so much worse than every other hospital?

I met a young girl doing nursing in limerick who said the trolleys were so close together the staff had to sidle sideways to reach people
Like what !
The people of limerick should be out marching in solidarity with this poor mans family but sure if that happened it wouldnt be reported. Like how can the people of the midwest have faith in the carry on in that a and e. Im totally disgusted at the lack of care / hosp management. I think they tried a bit of fobbing off the family .Stephen Donnelly should resign over this

While Limerick seems to be a bit worse than the rest, this is not a problem that is just limited to Limerick. Every one of our A&E departments is more or less the same. It's just luck that there haven't been more incidents like this.

Fewer and fewer doctors and nurses are willing to go in to A&A because of the horrific conditions, which of course only makes the conditions worse.

It's horrific what happened to that man and adds a whole other layer to his family's grief.

Limerick seems to be the worst run hospital in the country and it's getting worse. A lot of the blame has to be down to poor management, hardly surprising when you see where their focus is. It's A&E is on it's knees and they're wasting time and money on pestering sick children on their gender and giving them badges.

UHW is often shown as an example of a hospital with strong management the addressed it's trolley problem and now regularly has zero trolleys waiting. Even when it took on the transfer of patients from Wexford General when it went on fire UHW managed it well.

UHW's manager has been promoted recently to try to implement the same in 8 other hospitals. Hopefully she can bring positive changes.

I bet our politicians or their families aren't treated like this when they have to go to A&E.
Some years back I was with my mil in A&E in a Dublin hospital.
I noticed a man half out of a bed in a cubicle, the curtain was open. He was sadly dead. I had to tell the staff. Sad
