Lifetime ISAs for Southern Ireland

hi there,

Are lifetime ISAs eligable for Irish residents?

If so, does anyone have any pointers for any large Irish investment brokers?

Thanks,

It's Ireland.
There is no country called Southern Ireland.
Can't help with financial advice, sorry.

Ifailed · 06/03/2024 11:29

Kerry, Cork, Waterford?

Terracottatiles · 06/03/2024 11:43

They're not countries.

They don't have different rules for financial investment compared to the rest of the country.

Ifailed · 06/03/2024 11:49

@Terracottatiles,
I know they are not countries, but are definitely in the south of Ireland.

Terracottatiles · 06/03/2024 11:52

That's not in question.

Terracottatiles · 06/03/2024 11:59

Look, my point is that some people don't realise that the name of the country is Ireland and not Southern Ireland. It's a mistake that's often made on MN and understandable as there is a Northern Ireland.
But it's good to get names right if you can so I let OP know.
At least this bumped the thread for her.

MollyRover · 06/03/2024 12:33

Came here to say it's "Ireland" or "The Republic of Ireland". Or maybe you mean Munster?

SeulementUneFois · 06/03/2024 12:37

No ISAs in the Republic, no.

ohmygoshteens · 06/03/2024 14:34

thanks, i hadn't realised there were no isas in Ireland.

thanks anyway.

@Terracottatiles

They know alright, just chose to be insulting.

It's a different country with a different financial system to the UK, so you wouldn't expect to find the same products - especially products with tax relief.

I'm in NI (i.e. the UK) so I can't help, but if you post what your problem is, someone may be able to help. It's not clear from your OP where you're living, what you want to achieve and why.

Hang on a minute, I absolutely did not mean to be insulting.
I'm sorry if I've caused offence.

Terracottatiles · 08/03/2024 09:28

Thanks. I think it's mostly said as a mistake actually, not deliberately.

When called on it people can get defensive and argue the point instead of just saying oops, sorry. That's the wearing bit imo.

Sorry about the derail too.

LadyNijo · 08/03/2024 09:33

If, as the OP suggests, he/she is in fact resident in Ireland, you’d think they’d have figured out the name of the country they live in.
