Have you heard the story of the personal injury claim that was brought by a woman following a car accident where she was looking for compensation of over €750k for injuries but was subsequently rejected due to images of her throwing Christmas trees (yep that's a thing in Ireland) in a competition when she was claiming she was having issues getting out of bed due to pain.

This was a news story covered in 2018 on the BBC:
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-42576915
and her accident happened in 2017.

I don't know about the above case to comment but I'm sick of people bringing spurious cases of personal injury to court backed by ambulance chasing solicitors which, given very generous payouts mean big insurance charges for the rest of us.

What happened to the lovely Irish attitude of - "You'll have no luck with that money "
Basically don't be dishonest in your pursuit of money.
A form of Karma

So glad she got caught. I used to work investigating these claims and it was beyond frustrating when you knew deep down it was BS but legally they were going to win. I left the industry years ago and am so glad I did. We had one case where a guy was injured at work in really bizarre circumstances (seemed to be a set up) and was on disability and got caught lifting pallets in a job somewhere else. So he was trying to cheat both the taxpayers and his employers insurers. I remember him because it was the only one who got caught in my time.

On the flip side, we often heard 'sure there's nothing wrong with him he was out drinking a pint last week' or 'she was out pushing her baby around so she must be faking'. As if people who are in pain cannot leave the home, as if young mothers get an option of having someone come to mind their kids while they recover.

Many years ago now, there was a car accident outside my job at the time.

A young girl hit a woman crossing at lights, went through the light, ambulance called, taken

The driver was absolutely hysterical telling everyone who would listen, that the car was jinxed, she had won a bogey claim and bought the car a week or so prior.

There is no luck in those types of claims.
