Hello all, I posted in living overseas already so apologies for double thread! My husband has been offered a good job near Dublin airport so we’re considering moving from London to Ireland in the next few months. We will have 2 kids in nursery and one 5 year old at primary school (going into year 1 in the UK system). Do you have any advice on areas, schools, making friends, whether it’s a good idea overall etc?! Thanks so much!

We had secondary schools closer than Belvedere but we really liked the feeling we got when we visited the school as part of their open evenings for prospective students. The teachers are very attentive to the needs of their students. For example, I was driving home from work one day and I got a phone call from one of my son's teachers highlighting something that he believed we should pay attention to or arrange for additional support for our son (it was a language and we ended up getting our son grinds in that language) but he caught it early so we were able to work together.
I had never had that experience either as a student myself when I was in school or for my other kid so I found it left me feeling assured that we picked the right school for our son and his needs didn't fall through the cracks or get missed.

We were very fortunate in getting a place in Belvedere for our son and he has a wonderful friendship network having been in the school and playing rugby.

That sounds like a lovely school! To get in, is it academic/postcode/luck of the draw to private secondaries? Also can I ask where your kids went before secondary? Sorry if you’ve said before!
